No prayer too small

By Faith Brown

Mark 11:24, "Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours."

I’m constantly amazed at how God answers my prayers. I really cannot recall a time when I have not been amazed. I always expect for him to answer me, but for some reason it still comes as a shock. He has never let me down. One particular time he answered my prayer EXACTLY how I asked him.

I was in France with my family and we got word that Tour de France was taking place near us on one of the days. So, of course, we decided to go by and watch them. My dad was telling us that he was not sure if we could stay for the entire time and we might have to leave early. This was due to the fact that he would still have to preach that night and we would not have time. However, I really really really wanted to see Lance Armstrong. You may not even understand how badly I wanted to see him. I knew that he was a legend and I wanted to witness him in person. Plus, it would be cool to tell my friends that I saw Lance Armstrong. We got to the place where the bikers would be riding and decided to eat dinner. During dinner, my brothers and I were talking about how awesome it would be to see Lance Armstrong.

At the end of our conversation, my parents looked at us with long faces and told us that they didn’t think we were even going to see the race because we had to leave soon. My whole family instantly gave up hope. We had to leave within the hour which was not enough time to see the bikers. Little did they know that I had prayed right before we left the hotel. My prayer went along these lines, “God, please help us to watch the Tour de France and to see all of them ride, and please help me to see Lance Armstrong. I really want to see him, so please let me see him. Even if it’s only a little glimpse of him, help me to see him and know that it’s him. Amen.” So, when my parents told us we were going to miss the race, I refused to trust in their words because I knew my God could help me with my prayer. I knew that God was going to answer my prayer and I had no doubt. Everyone lost hope but me.

I asked if we could at least wait and see if they would pass by anyways. My parents agreed and we stood at the finish line. To everyone’s surprise, we saw the bikers fly by us in a flash! Right afterwards, my parents rushed us so we could leave before the crowd got too crazy. I kept thinking, “No! I have to see Lance!” However, I complied but looked frantically at the bikers hoping to catch a glimpse. I kept thinking to God, “You have to help me see Lance Armstrong!” I was not giving in just yet. To my delight, we ended up walking unknowingly into a crowd that was not moving. We were literally stuck and could not get out. I looked up at the stage that we were next to and saw the answer to my prayer: Lance Armstrong! Right when I saw him, my dad found a way out and we ran out of the crowd. I only got a glimpse of him, but that was all I asked for from my prayer. I did not give up hope and faith that entire day. I knew God would help me see him and he did!

God will help you too! All you have to do is pray and believe. Don’t give up your faith even if God says “no” to what you have been praying for. God hears every request and answers if you just trust in him.
