Number your days

Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.—
Ps 90:12

We just received a Jack-Russell Terrier puppy for Christmas. She is adorable. She’s one of the family. She is white with some brown spots. We named her Peanuts from the cartoon character Charlie Brown. After all, we are the Browns.

Peanuts has brought so much joy to us. She’s is very energetic and playful. It’s amazing how we can be entertained by simply watching her. We have had so much fun with Peanuts but now comes the hardest part: House-breaking her. Yuk!

You must understand something about my husband and me, we have three children—two boys and one girl. We had the hardest time potty-training our children. Actually we never potty-trained them—their grandmas did. Thank God for grandmas. So this was going to be a real challenge for us.

We accepted Peanuts as a Christmas gift from one of our members. We explained our concern about housebreaking her, and they said not to worry; this dog would be easy. They reassured us that it would not be a problem.

Jack-Russell Terriers are smart dogs. Peanuts is no exception.

We were told to take her outside and give the command, "Peanuts, do your business!"

Last winter it had been very cold in El Paso. She knew that if she did her business she could come inside. So Peanuts redeemed the time. She did her business and quickly ran back inside the house.

What a lesson to have learned.

Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. (Eph 5:16, KJV)

If only we Christians would know the importance of redeeming the time like Peanuts. If only we could learn so quickly.

We long for the Lord’s return, but God is waiting on us to do His business so we can all quickly go home.
