Report on Tom Brown's Mission's Trip to
Trinidad
Tom
left on a seven day mission trip to Trinidad, West Indies. Trinidad is the
southern most island among the Caribbean. It is just off the coast of Venezuela.
Little did the Trinidadians know of the great visitation they would receive from
the Lord.
Tom stayed in the home of Pastor Phillip Samlalsingh and his
wife, Susan and three children: Rachel, Ruben and Richard. (picture: Phillip and

Itinerary
Tuesday,
Day One: Tom Brown boarded a full plane and arrived on Tuesday night, March
12th. It was clear on the first night that Trinidad was ready for Pastor Tom
Brown—the country was printing license plates with TBM,
which for Pastor Tom stood for "Tom Brown Ministries." (picture: Tom,
Richard and Rachel)
Wednesday, Day Two: The Crusade was being sponsored Barrackpore
United Churches Association. Barrackpore is a small
village in Trinidad with a population of 20,000, mostly Hindus and Muslims. Tom
met with the seven supporting pastors for an evening with them. He spoke briefly
about how to handle rejection. The pastors seemed very open to the message. He
gave away his book "How to Handle Rejection" to each pastor. They
gladly ate together afterward.
Thursday,
Day Three: The crusade was held on the roof of the Christian Outreach
Center, pastored by Phillip Samlalsingh. Pastor Phillip was the
host minister. The roof was covered by yellow and white tents and seated 350
people. The first night was almost packed, 325 attended. This was incredible
attendance considering how difficult the village was to reach. The largest
supporting church numbered only 50 to 70 people. The others simply had a
handful of members.
Tom Brown opened the crusade by teaching on healing through deliverance. He
showed that many people never get healed after prayer because they never
received deliverance from the spirits that have made them sick. He concluded the
message with a call for healing. Many people testified to being healed the first
night. The altar call for salvation included 35 people filling out decision
cards.
Friday,
Day Four: Tom enjoyed the afternoon playing cricket, and he did really well.
He clobbered the ball every time he was at bat.
The night of the crusade went extremely well. The building was completely
full with a few people watching the big jumbo screen down stairs. Tom used the
story of the man at the pool of Bethesda. Jesus mentioned, "I have come to
heal the whole man." Tom explained that we need healing in our soul as well
as in our bodies. He did an outstanding job explaining the three-part nature of
man: spirit, soul and body. He emphasized the need for the soul to be healed.
Afterward Tom prayed for dozens of people needing healing from fear and
depression. Many claimed to have been healed. The altar call was bigger than the
night before.
Saturday, Day Five: With the momentum climbing, Tom taught on the trap
of Satan. He explained that Satan's number one trap for the mature believer is
"offence." Offence, he explained, is when you get offended at people
when they hurt you or do not meet your expectations. As long as you hold on to
the "offence" there is nothing for God to do for you. God will not
work for the believer who holds onto resentment. People
lifted their hands when Tom asked them to get rid of their resentment. Many
pastors told Tom that this message needs to be preached in all their churches.
He prayed for for one lady who had back problems for many years. Tom asked
her to sit down so he could pray for her back to be adjusted. She began to shake
uncontrollably and then leaped to her feet. She danced and was filled with joy.
She said that she was completely healed.
Tom
also sold out of his book, "How to Handle Rejection." People thronged
to purchase his materials. Eventually he sold out of almost everything.
Sunday, Day Six: After enjoying the afternoon at the beach, Tom
was ready to minister his last message. That night the upstairs was packed with
350 people plus140 more people had to participate in the meeting below by
watching the jumbo screen. This crowd of 490 was the largest Christian gathering
in the history of Barrackpore. Tom felt honored to be part of an historic night.
Tom shared how God taught him to pray for the unsaved. He shared a touching
story about his grandfather, and how God used him to bring him salvation. He
then explain how to stand in "proxy" for other people. He along with
the supporting pastors prayed for hundreds of cloths according to Acts 19. The
final night witnessed the most dramatic miracles.
Tom
laid hands on 12 people who claimed to have either been deaf or had ringing in
the ears. Every one that he prayed for was healed. The final man had an hearing
aid, and after being prayed for, smiled real big and said, "I can hear
better," and he put away his hearing aid. God moved very dramatically that
night, and no one there could have denied the miracle working power of
God.
More importantly than the healing was the fact that around 75 more people
came to the Lord, many of them being Hindus and Muslims. Approximately 160
people responded to the altar call for the four nights.
Monday,
Day Seven: Tom woke up real early and boarded the plane back to El Paso,
Texas. The pastor's son, Ruben, (picture to the right) was instrumental in
bringing Tom Brown to Trinidad. He filled out a form
for his dad that is found on this Internet site, and through the guidance of the
Spirit, Pastor Tom accepted the invitation.
