Rolling in a Trash Can
By Sonia Brown
Hebrews
10:22 “ Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of
faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience
and having our bodies washed with pure water.”
It was a beautiful Saturday Morning. My two
sons, Justin and Caleb, were playing hide and go seek outside our home.
Justin needed to help clean up around the house so I opened the door and
yelled for him to come inside. Justin was on roller blades, skating down the
street with a very unusual look on his face. I knew that look. He was
guilty of something. I was astonished that he was rolling our
trash can down the middle of the street.
I asked him, "What on earth are you doing
with our trash can."
He blushed, “Oh...Caleb is inside and I was
taking him for a ride.”
"Caleb! Get out of the trash can! And both
of you go take a shower!" They both scurried home and scrubbed
themselves really good.
We, like my sons, get into all sorts of
messes in life. Some are more serious than others. But sooner or later we
have to repent and ask God to clean us. He is the only one who can makes
things right. He is faithful and just to cleanse us of all unrighteousness
and of guilty conscience. It’s the blood of Jesus that makes us white as
snow. Thank God for His blood. Amen!
